Big Idea...

I am starting to expand my idea of homeschooling even more today! I know it may seem that I'm all over the place but, in order to get the most out of home educating my children I think I need to try new things until I find a system that works the best for our family. I like using the work boxes however, I don't like that we are separated while we learn. I am wondering if a unit study approach might work for our family. I am going to design my own to use in a few weeks as our next adventure. I think it's important to keep things fresh. With the unit study approach we can enjoy more time together as we learn. We may even invite another close friend who's homeschooling to join us for this endeavor of he wants to. How much more do you imagine my kids would learn if they could do it alongside a treasured friend? How exciting it would be to spend a couple of weeks really delving into a subject as a unit! I would treat this a special privilege to learn this way so it will build excitement in my children's hearts for being able to learn this way. Maybe, if they see our education as a privilege, they might change their perspective on learning each day. I've spoken to another homeschool mom who's a close friend of mine and we've tinkered with the idea. Now, I'm ready to start planning it with her so Sheila, let's get busy collaborating and make some home school magic happen!
